Research contract at Institute of Nuclear Physics Polish Academy of Sciences for the Structrure of Atomic Nucleus Department

Institute of Nuclear Physics Polish Academy of Sciences announces one vacancy for the Structure of Atomic Nucleus Department.

REQUIREMENTS:

PhD degree in Physics; at least a several-year experience in experimental nuclear spectroscopy with neutron and ion beams; demonstrated ability to prepare in-beam measurement projects using a neutron beam.

ROLE:

  • Preparation of a catalogue of possible experiments addressing fundamental scientific problems in the field of nuclear physics using a 40 MeV pulsed high-intensity deuteron beam and a pulsed beam of neutrons, which can be available at the DONES facility.
  • Identification of the required infrastructure and conditions.
  • A conceptual feasibility study of said experiments based on Monte Carlo simulations.

Research contract at the University of Granada for the design and simulation of experiments in IFMIF-DONES

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s Degree in Physics. Experienced in simulations with MCNP code and MCNP dose calculations.

ROLE:

The selected candidates will join the research project “Otras aplicaciones de la instalación IFMIF-DONES en Granada. Estudio de viabilidad” (Other applications of IFMIF-DONES in Granada. Feasibility study”). They will work on the design and simulation of experiments for IFMIF-DONES and other facilities based on the accelerator or neutrons.

Three research contracts at the Laboratory for Remote Handling at the University of Granada

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science. Experience in C/C++ and Python programming languages, and in programming control systems with AI. Linux knowledge.

ROLE:

The selected candidates will join the research project “Sistemas de control para IFMIF-DONES”. (IFMIF-DONES control systems). They will develop a control room simulator for LIPAc’s remote operation/participation, as well as artificial intelligence for data analysis in LIPAc/DONES and advanced communication and control technology for DONES.

Research contracts at the University of Granada: three contracts in development of virtual reality for robotized environments

REQUIREMENTS:

Different profiles will be considered to fill three positions:

  • Game developers or, more generally, virtual environment designers with proven expertise in Unity3D (or similar) framework.
  • Virtual/Mixed/Augmented reality developers with expertise in integrating visualization and interactive devices.
  • Hardware developers experienced on designing/building and integrating custom human-machine interfaces and robotic devices.

For any of the mentioned profiles, the following skills will be highly valued:

  • University Degree (BSc, MSc, PhD).
  • Expertise on creation of virtual environments with Unity3D or other similar physical engines.
  • Knowledge of CAD tools for engineering design and simulation.
  • Strong programming skills (e.g. Python, C++, C#…).
  • Proficiency in English.

ROLE: The selected candidates will join the recently created Laboratory in Virtual Reality for Remote Handling in the Applied Computational Neuroscience research group (https://acn.ugr.es) at the University of Granada. The successful candidates will have the opportunity to participate in the development of virtual environments to simulate maintenance tasks in the future IFMIF-DONES facility.
