Students in the Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering of the University of Granada learn about the role of IFMIF-DONES in the energy future

The ‘Advanced Energy Systems in Engineering’ module includes contents on nuclear energy, taught by the Director of the IFMIF-DONE Implementation Office, Antonio Peña

The IFMIF-DONES project and the role of this scientific infrastructure will have in solving the neutron irradiation problem and in advancing towards fusion energy was presented to the 70 students enrolled in the Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering of the University of Granada (UGR).

Antonio Peña, Professor and Director of the IFMIF-DONES Implementation Office of the UGR (OFID), was responsible for teaching the contents on nuclear energy in the module ‘Advanced Energy Systems in Engineering’ of this Master’s Degree. This module foresees a specific section to describe the particle accelerator that will be constructed in Escúzar.

During these sessions, the Director of the OFID reviewed the current energy status and its limitations. In this regard, the Director explained the role of IFMIF-DONES in solving the neutron irradiation problem, described the scientific facility, and informed of the milestones of the project.

The inclusion of IFMIF-DONES in the Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering of the University of Granada is part of the dissemination activities planned in the DONES-PreP project, which have the aim to spread the news about this scientific facility and about the race towards fusion energy among the academia.
