Granada hosts the first follow-up meeting of IFMIF-DONES after the announcement of the creation of the Consortium that will manage the project

Spanish Minister of Science and Innovation, Pedro Duque, chaired the meeting attended by representatives of different institutions

The science centre and museum Parque de las Ciencias de Granada hosted the first IFMIF-DONES project follow-up meeting after the announcement of the creation of the Consortium that will lead Granada’s candidacy. The meeting was chaired by the Minister of Science and Innovation, Pedro Duque, and it covered the milestones and future course of action for the implementation of the large scientific infrastructure in Escúzar.

Representatives of the Ministry of Science and Innovation, Regional Government of Andalucía, University of Granada, CIEMAT, OnGranada Tech City, and local authorities of the province of Granada, of the city of Granada, and of Escúzar attended the meeting.

The Minister explained that all actors involved ‘are working with enthusiasm and effectively’ for the candidacy, as proven by the meeting held in Granada.

The Rector of the University of Granada, Pilar Aranda, highlighted the ‘spirit of cooperation among the actors related to the project, especially the entrepreneurial sector’.

The General Secretary for Universities, Research and Technology of the Regional Government of Andalucía, Rosa María Ros, stated during the meeting that the particle accelerator will transform Granada into a ‘national and international knowledge and research reference point’, particularly concerning the search for clean and unlimited sources of energy.
